Did you know that lupus is more common in women than men, and that Latinas are more likely to have lupus compared to White women? Promotores can play an important role to support women in their communities.
Latinas con Lupus, Promotores con Información is an online professional development course that prepares promotores to conduct outreach to raise lupus awareness and support a person with suspected or diagnosed lupus. Latinas con Lupus, Promotores con Información aims to improve promotores’ skills and knowledge to support clients in advocating for themselves and obtaining adequate medical attention.
In the online professional development course, promotores are guided by the course facilitator, Natalia Gomez, through four lessons:
- What is Lupus?
- How to Raise Lupus Awareness
- How to Support a Client with Suspected Lupus
- How to Support a Client with Diagnosed Lupus
Each lesson consists of videos, handouts, quizzes, Q&A sessions with experts, and scenario-based learning that allows promotores to practice their skills and knowledge.
